Beavers Fall At Home To Bears

The Beavers let another one slip through their hands Saturday night. A slow start, a back and forth game, and a big record broken as the Beavers fall to three straight losses.

A bright spot came out of the loss when history was made as Sean Mannion completed a pass to Conner Hamlett. A 15 yard reception made senior quarterback Sean Mannion the all-time leading passer in the Pac-12. Mannion ended the night with 12,454 yards which surpassed Matt Barkley’s record of 12,327 yards.

With wide receiver Richard Mullaney out, Jordan Villamin stepped up and made a splash. Quarterback Sean Mannion connected with Jordan Villamin for an eight yard touchdown in the third quarter. Jordan Villamin proved to be a bright spot in the Beavers offense Saturday night and could be a crucial play maker for the Beavers this season.

The Beavers could not keep the momentum throughout the game. After leading just once, early in the fourth quarter, the Beavers never seemed to get their feet under them. The Beavers went back and forth with the Bears until the Bears finally pulled away late in the fourth quarter.

The Beavers defense were out played by running back Daniel Lasco. Lasco had a career game with 188 yards and three touchdowns. The defense failed to make key stops which gave Cal control.

The Beavers face an injured Washington State next week, with QB Connor Halliday out for the season. The Beavs must improve their struggling offense in order to save their season.
