The #6 Oregon Ducks soundly defeated the Oregon State Beavers 80-59 to end the regular season. The Ducks fought off a scrappy Oregon State team early in the first half, but pulled away in the second half to earn the season sweep and securing the #1 seed in the Pac-12 tournament next week.
Oregon entered today’s Civil War matchup on seven days rest. Perhaps a little too much rest, as Oregon State began the game dcame in toetermined their 85-43 loss to the Oregon Ducks earlier this season would not happen twice. The Beavers led 11-8 at one point and refused to let Oregon control the game. But Oregon’s hot offense would prove too much for the Beavers as the Ducks roared to a shared Pac-12 championship with Arizona.
Dillon Brooks led the Ducks in scoring with 25 points, and big man Jordan Bell collected a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. On the Beavers’ side, Drew Eubanks showed the most grit with a double-double of his own, scoring 21 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Eubanks led the Beavers to their hot start in the first half.
Oregon managed to take the lead at halftime 32-24, but Oregon State still threatened to pull off an upset. However, the Ducks’ locker room talk must have been good, because it was all Ducks in the second half. Chris Boucher pulled off a slick move in the second half, helping to get the Ducks’ offense rolling.
In the end, the Ducks defeated their in-state rivals and earned serious momentum for the Pac-12 tournament next week. Dana Altman discussed Oregon’s goals with Jerry Allen after the game.
The Ducks will play next Thursday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on March 9th. The opponent and tip-off are to be determined. You can listen to the game here on 102.9/750 The Game.
