Oregon Ducks selected as 3-seed in Midwest Region

The Oregon Ducks were selected as a number-3 seed in the Midwest Region in the 2017 NCAA Tournament on Sunday.  The Ducks will face the 14-seed Iona Gaels in Sacramento, Cal., on Fri., March 17th at a time to be determined.

Oregon (29-5; 16-2) finished runner-up in the Pac-12 Tournament in Vegas, falling to Arizona on Saturday night 83-80.  The loss came just hours after the Ducks found out that senior forward Chris Boucher would miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL suffered in the semifinal win over Cal.

Iona (22-12; 12-8 Metro-Atlantic) earned the automatic qualifier out of the MAAC thanks to an 87-86 overtime win over Siena.  The Gaels are led by senior forward Jordan Washington, who has averages over 18 points and 7 rebounds this season.  They rank 16th in the country in made 3-point field goals per game with 9.8.
