Three Timbers to Play International Matches Over the Next Week

The Portland Timbers are off until October 15th giving some of their own a chance to represent their home countries on the pitch.

Midfielder David Guzmán and defenders Bill Tuiloma and Vytas selected to play for their respective homelands in either 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers or international friendlies before the Timbers return to league play.

Guzmán will represent Costa Rica for two World Cup qualifiers against Honduras and Panama. The match against Honduras on Friday in Costa Rica before traveling to Panama for the next one next Tuesday (Oct. 10).

Vytas representing Lithuania for a pair of World Cup qualifiers. They’ll take on Malta in Malta this Thursday night before travelling back home for a match against England on Sunday.

Tuiloma will travel to Tokyo, Japan for an international friendly to represent his home country New Zealand. Their game will be Friday from Tokyo Stadium.

All three players will be back with the Timbers in time for their next league match against DC United on October 15th. Kickoff from Providence Park at 4:30 pm. You can hear that game on 102.9/750 the Game with coverage starting at 3:30.
