Timbers Collapse In Orlando

Over the course of the young 2018 MLS season, the Timbers have made steady progress under the leadership of new head coach Giovanni Savarese. But with 2 draws and 3 losses, the only thing that has eluded them is a victory. Savarese and company looked to change that in Orlando in their match against Orlando City.

In the first half the Timbers were in complete control. Diego Valeri would be the first to score thanks to a penalty kick in the 20th minute…

The Timbers would head to the locker room at half with a 1-0 advantage, and the sense that this game could earn them their first victory of the season. The second half would continue that narrative with a goal by Bill Tuiloma in the 57th minute…

The Timbers were now up 2-0 in Orlando. It would be the last 10 minutes of the game that would bring heartbreak for the Timbers and their chance at a victory.  Orlando City would score 3 times, thanks to goals from Chris Mueller, Sacha Kljestan, and Dom Dwyer. The Timbers fall 3-2 in Orlando in a heartbreaking fashion.

Next, the Timbers will be back in Portland for their home opener in the newly revamped Providence Park. They will take on Minnesota United – That’s this Saturday at 7:30pm. You can catch all the action on The Game!
