Baker Mayfield leads rookies in impressive preseason debuts

The NFL’s number-one pick from the 2018 Draft looked the part Thursday night as Baker Mayfield completed 11-of-20 passes for 212 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Browns preseason game at the New York Giants.

Mayfield downplayed any nerves ahead of his NFL debut and lived up to the hype.  He wasn’t the only rookie to impess, though, as Giants number-two overall pick Saquon Barkley also put on a highlight of his own.

And in Seattle, rookie linebacker Shaquem Griffin, the one-handed 5th-round pick, made a team-high nine tackles for the Seahawks in their exhibition game against the Colts.

Plus, former Oregon State and Central Catholic star Ryan Nall ripped off the best run of his young career for the Bears in Cincinnati:

Nall finished with 9 carries for 95 yards, averaging 10.6 yards per carry.  He was an undrafted free-agent signing by Chicago.
