Mike Leake pitched a gem, allowing just one run over seven innings, but the Mariners only had one hit when he left the game. They got their only run with 2 outs in the ninth inning.

Connor Sadzeck gave up two runs in the eighth inning that pretty much put the game out of reach.

The worst part of the game, besides the loss, was Dee Gordon getting hit on the wrist with a pitch. Gordon had to leave the game in the third due to the injury.

Cameron Maybin broke through the 0-0 tie for the Yankees with two outs in the second. 1-0 New York.

The Mariners were clinging to the 1-0 deficit in the eighth inning, but they couldn’t hold it. Gio Urshela laced a ball inside the bag at first base scoring two runs. 3-0 Yankees.

In the ninth, the Mariners finally got on the board with a Domingo Santana home run. The first HR given up by Yankee closer Aroldis Chapman all season. 3-1 New York.

Unfortunately, that was all the Mariners could muster. The next batter, Ryon Healy, ended the game on a ground ball to second base. 3-1 Yanks win.

The Mariners managed just two hits, and just one through eight innings. Seattle had seven total base runners in the loss.
