Oregon fans might want to look away. Or maybe hate-watch. But two of the most detestable programs in the eyes of Ducks fans are meeting on New Year’s Day in the 105th playing of the Rose Bowl Game, as No.9 Washington faces No.6 Ohio State.
Washington is a natural Ducks rival, and the hatred from both programs toward the other is both obvious and understood. Ohio State has worked its way onto Oregon’s naughty list thanks to two of the more heartbreaking losses in program history: the 2010 Rose Bowl Game to end Chip Kelly’s first season as head coach, a 26-17 defeat to Terrell Pryor, Jim Tressel and the Buckeyes, as well as the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship Game after the 2014 season, which saw Ezekiel Elliott run all over the Ducks defense to lead Ohio State to a 42-20 win over Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota and the Ducks.
So, whether or not you are a Ducks fan, who will you root for (root is a loose word, maybe just slightly pull for?) in the Rose Bowl? The Huskies or Buckeyes?
