Oregon takes down No. 11 Arizona State 76-72

Now that’s how you start a road trip.

Oregon pulled off a huge upset of No. 11 Arizona State on Thursday, downing the Sun Devils 76-72.

The Ducks are now 12-5, 2-2 in Pac-12 play.

The victory in Tempe marks a big milestone for the Ducks: Oregon’s last road win over a team ranked No. 11 or higher was onĀ  Jan. 14, 2007 (Oregon 79, No. 10 Arizona 77).

Payton Pritchard posted 18 points, including two free throws in the final 13.8 seconds to help the Ducks hold off the Sun Devils. Elijah Brown chalked up 18 points of his own, with two of those points coming from a highlight-worthy two-handed dunk in the first half.

Roman Sorkin came off the bench to give the Ducks a boost with 13 points off 5-of-8 shooting from the floor.

Head coach Dana Altman was pleased with his team’s performance on Thursday, calling the win “a great effort.”

Oregon and Arizona State will meet again this season on Feb. 22 at Matt Knight Arena.

Next up for the Ducks is a trip to Tuscon to face the No. 17 Arizona Wildcats on Saturday. The game tips off at 11 a.m., with pregame coverage starting at 10:30 a.m. on Portland’s home for the Ducks, 102.9/750 The Game.
