The Portland Timbers erased a 1-0 halftime deficit to score three times in the second half and added time, earning a 3-2 win on the road over Sporting Kansas City to win the MLS Western Conference Championship.

The Timbers will face Atlanta United in the MLS Cup Final on Sat., Dec. 8 in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga.  Kickoff is at 5pm on 1029FM/750AM and, nationally televised on FOX.

The highlight of the night – one of many – was the stunning goal smashed home from over 30 yards out by midfielder Sebastian Blanco in the 52nd minute, arguably one of the greatest goals in MLS Playoffs history.

The goal set the internet on fire, not to mention the impact on the game (tied it 1-1) and the series (gave Timbers the advantage on away goal tiebreaker).

The Timbers rode that momentum to score a pair of more goals, both by Diego Valeri in the 61st and 99th minutes, respectively.  The final tally from Valeri came on a late counter-attack breakaway, when the Timbers were tied 2-2 but still had the away goals tiebreak, but the goal allowed the squad to start celebrating early.

The Timbers will face Atlanta United in the MLS Cup Final on Sat., Dec. 8th at 5pm on 1029 The Game.
