Timbers fall to Dynamo, exit postseason with 1-2 loss

The Timbers were the first to strike in the second leg of the MLS Cup Playoffs, with a goal by Darian Asprilla in the 39th minute. Hopes were high at Providence Park, even with a Timbers starting line-up that was largely depleted due to injury. But, a late goal by the Dynamo’s Dylan Remick, would leave the Timbers on edge going into half with a 1-1 draw. Given the MLS playoff rules, the Timbers would not advance to the next round with a draw at home. They needed a goal.

The Timbers would not get what they were looking for. The Dynamo’s Mauro Manotas, would be the only player to strike in the second half – putting  his team up 1-2 in the 77th minute. The Timbers would not respond. The Dynamo move on to the Western Conference Championship to face the Seattle Sounders, while the Timbers head into the off season.
