The Timbers were in San Jose tonight to take on the Earthquakes. This match coming off their bye week and dominate 3-0 victory over NYC FC two weeks ago. Giovanni Saverese and company  looked to not only capture their third straight victory, but also their first victory at Avaya Stadium.

The first half would be a back and fourth affair. Both teams would establish themselves early with quality football. It was a surprise that Fandeno Adi didn’t have a goal in the first half, as he had multiple strikes on goal that fell just short of the net.

While the Timbers offensive efforts in the first half were a reason for optimism – so was their defense.  Jeff Attinella had a great save to keep the Earthquakes off the scoreboard…

The Timbers would enter the locker room at half tied 0-0, with the  Earthquakes. The second half would bring more of same – play that was not rendering goals for either team. Some frustration could be seen among Timbers players such as Diego Valeri who protested whistles by officials.  It would be Diego Valeri who would lead the Timbers to victory with on a penalty kick in the 88th minute…

The Timbers capture their first win at Avaya Stadium and their third straight victory in the 2018 Season, winning 1-0.
